What is the Methodist Wellmobile and How do I get it to where I work, shop or play? To schedule a Methodist Wellmobile stop you can print off the request form off the website. Fill it out completely and Fax to Stacey Varnes at 673-9538. If you have questions please call Stacey at 309-495-4727. The cost of having the Wellmobile is FREE and the screenings are performed INSIDE your facility. We have a cargo van for supplies. It is NOT a vehicle that we screen in. What is fasting? For the most accurate test results please refrain from eating or drinking anything but water. Should I take my medications? Please take all medications, as prescribed, with water only prior to attending a screening. How long will my results take? Blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and spirometry results are available within about 5 minutes. Ankle brachial index and stroke results are also available immediately. Heart and Prostate results will be mailed to participants at their homes within two weeks of their appointment. How long does a cholesterol screening take? The blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and spirometry portion of the screening is about 15-20 minutes. Wait times vary from location to location. How much does it cost? Blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, spirometry and Ankle Brachial Index screenings are free of charge. There is a $25 fee for a Prostate screening, a $40 fee for a Heart screening and a $40 fee for a Stroke screening. What type of payment is accepted? Cash or Checks made out to MMCI. Exact change is appreciated. Are appointments required? No appointments are necessary for Ankle Brachial Index, blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and spirometry Visit the classes and screenings section of www.mymethodist.net to schedule an appointment for a Heart, Prostate or Stroke Screening, How often should I have my cholesterol checked? An annual cholesterol screening is recommended for individuals with total cholesterol under 200. For those with high cholesterol, those with changes in medication, diet or exercise it is advised that you have your cholesterol screened every 3 – 6 months. Do you offer blood glucose testing separately from cholesterol testing? No, both blood glucose and cholesterol are included in the same test and it requires an 8-12 hour fast. What results will I get? Results from a cholesterol screening include blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, which includes total cholesterol, high density lipoproteins (HDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL), triglycerides, ratio of total cholesterol to high density lipoproteins and spirometry. Do you offer mammograms? We do not offer mammograms. To schedule an appointment for a Mammogram through the Methodist Mobile Mammography please call 671-8282. Do you offer Osteoporosis screenings? We do not offer heel scans. If you are interested in a heel scan we encourage you to contact Methodist Medical Group at Mount Hawley at 309-693-2020. Who staffs the Methodist Wellmobile? Methodist employees perform all testing. These individuals have undergone special training to perform these screening and are evaluated annually on their skills. Will you send a copy of the results to my physician? Currently we do not distribute results to anyone but the patient. At the conclusion of the screening results are explained to the patients and they are given a copy. We encourage patients to take a copy of their results to their physician.
